technology, like other technologies has changed considerably in
the last several years.
Pond
maintenance doesn't require a lot of work, provided you are
using a proper pond filtering system. At Don's Ponds we
recommend a system consisting of a pond skimmer, located at the
outside edge of the pond, opposite a biological waterfall filter
which provides the source for the waterfall, and as long or
short a stream as you desire. This type of system doesn't
require you to get into the pond to clean out a filter. The pump
in the skimmer box draws leaves and debris into the net before
they can settle to the bottom of the pond and build up layers,
decomposing organic material. The pump also draws water across
the pond, creating a current. The waterfall/filter
reservoir also provides the home for the beneficial bacteria
that help keep your pond clear and clean, not green.
